Aymara 2011 Edition (AYMBSB)

Overview

The Aymara 2011 Edition is a complete Bible (Biblia aymara - Qullan Arunaka) published by the Sociedad Biblica Boliviana (Bolivian Bible Society) in 2011 (ISBN 978-99954-44-95-2). [1][2] Bible translation into Aymara has a long history: the first Scripture portion, the Gospel of Luke translated by Vicente Pazos Kanki in cooperation with Scottish pastor James Thompson, was published in 1828 and represents the first publication of a complete biblical book in a Native American language. [3] The first Aymara New Testament appeared in 1954, and the first complete Bible was published in 1986, with a second edition in 1997. [3] The 2011 edition is a further revision published by the Sociedad Biblica Boliviana, which was constituted in Cochabamba on 3 September 1974 as part of the United Bible Societies network. [2]
