Central Bicolano Bikol Popular Version (BCLBPV)

Overview

The Bikol Popular Version (BPV), titled An Marahay Na Bareta Biblia, is a translation of the New Testament in Central Bikol, produced by the Philippine Bible Society. The New Testament was first published in 1981, with a full Bible edition (including the Deuterocanonical books) following in 1992. ^[1] Central Bikol is one of several Bikol languages spoken on the Bicol Peninsula in southeastern Luzon, Philippines, with approximately 3.89 million speakers. ^[2] The Popular Version style aims to present the biblical text in clear, contemporary language accessible to everyday readers while preserving the integrity of the original message. ^[1] An edition with the Deuterocanonical books was also published, reflecting the predominantly Roman Catholic readership in the Bicol region. ^[3]
