Overview

The Open Bhadrawahi Bible is a New Testament translation in the Bhadrawahi language (also known as Bhadarwahi or Bhidlai), published by The Love Fellowship and copyrighted by Bridge Connectivity Solutions. [1] Bhadrawahi is a Western Pahari language spoken by approximately 113,000 people primarily in the Bhadarwah area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, India. [2] The text was initially released around 2017 in Devanagari script and subsequently made available on the YouVersion Bible App under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. [1] An audio recording of the New Testament was produced by Davar Partners International. [3] The translation is part of a broader initiative by The Love Fellowship to produce Scripture in multiple Western Pahari languages of the Himalayan region, including Chambeali, Mandeali, Kullu Pahari, Kangri, and Gaddi. [4]

Bhadrawahi (ISO 639-3: bhd) is spoken by approximately 113,000 people in the Bhadarwah area of Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It belongs to the Western Pahari group of Indo-Aryan languages and is classified by UNESCO as “definitely endangered.” [2] [Glottolog: bhad1241]
