Buhid 1988 Edition (BKUOMF)
Overview
The Buhid New Testament was translated by Robert “Bob” Hanselman (1925-2014) and Joy (Hayman) Hanselman, OMF missionaries who served among the Buhid people of Oriental Mindoro for approximately 33 years. [1][2] Bob Hanselman graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1950 and joined OMF (formerly China Inland Mission), marrying Joy in 1954. [1] Early OMF co-workers among the Buhid included R. Marie Barham, who published linguistic work on Buhid phonology in 1958 before her death that same year, and Fay Goddard, who joined the Buhid work in 1956. [3][4] Scripture portions were available from 1981, and the New Testament was completed in 1988. [5] This was one of three Mangyan New Testament translations in which OMF had a major role. [6]
