Bekwarra 1983 Edition

Bekwarra 1983 Edition (BKVWYI)

Overview

The Bekwarra New Testament was first published in 1983 by the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT), making it the first Scripture in the Bekwarra language. [1] The Bekwarra people number approximately 221,000 and live primarily in Bekwara Local Government Area of Cross River State and parts of Benue State in southeastern Nigeria. [2] Bible portions in Bekwarra had been available since 1970, but the complete New Testament was a landmark publication for the community. [2] Work on translating the Old Testament is ongoing under the Seed Company, with translation consultant Uche Aaron (a retired NBTT staff member and SIL Senior Translation Consultant) checking the Bekwarra Old Testament translation.
