Bundeli Holy Bible (BNSPBT)
Overview
Bundeli (also called Bundelkhandi) is a Western Hindi language of the Indo-Aryan family spoken in the Bundelkhand region of central India, primarily in Madhya Pradesh and southern Uttar Pradesh. The language has approximately 7 million first-language speakers and is written in the Devanagari script. Bundeli has been documented since the 13th century and functions as the primary language of both intra-group and inter-group communication across Bundelkhand. The Bundela Rajputs traditionally engaged in agriculture and land ownership; today occupations also include livestock rearing, weaving, pottery, and trade. Hinduism is the predominant faith among Bundeli speakers.
IBT India (India Bible Translators) undertook Bible translation for the Bundeli community, with the Gospel of Mark released at Logos Camp in 2013 as the first scripture in the language. The project culminated in the complete Bundeli Holy Bible (2018), produced in partnership with Central India Christian Mission and Pioneer Bible Translators. This full Bible, available on YouVersion (version 2338), represents the entire scriptural canon in Bundeli for the first time.
