Bokobaru Bible

Bokobaru Bible (BUSSIM)

Overview

The Bokobaru Bible contains the complete New Testament and 19 Old Testament books in the Bokobaru language of western Nigeria, published in 2005 by SIM International. The Bokobaru language is spoken primarily in Kaiama and Baruten LGAs of Kwara State, Nigeria. SIM missionary Ross Jones adapted the text from his earlier Boko Bible translation in Benin, working across the closely related Boko/Busa language cluster. [1] Jones compiled the Bokobaru-English, English-Bokobaru dictionary over a twelve-year period while translating the Bible into Bokobaru. [1] The Bokobaru, Boko, and Busa dictionaries were published simultaneously as a trilogy reflecting the interrelated nature of the languages. [2]
