Chayahuita New Testament (CBTTBL)
Overview
The Chayahuita New Testament, titled “Yose nanamën,” was published in 2011 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] Chayahuita (also known as Shawi) is a Cahuapanan language spoken in Peru’s Loreto and San Martin regions. Bible portions in Chayahuita were first produced in 1964, with additional portions following through 1991, before the complete New Testament was finished. [2] The Chayahuita people number approximately 22,000 and are distributed across 105 villages in the Jeberos, Cahuapanas, and Balsapuerto districts of Peru’s Amazon Basin. [2] A complete Old Testament translation has not yet been produced.

Chayahuita (ISO 639-3: cbt), also known as Shawi, is a Cahuapanan language spoken by approximately 22,000 people in the Loreto and San Martin regions of Peru. [2] [Glottolog: chay1248]
