Chuukese Bible (CHKBSM)

Overview

The Chuukese Bible (“Paipel”) is a full Bible translation in the Chuukese (Trukese) language of Chuuk State, Federated States of Micronesia, published by the Bible Society of Micronesia in cooperation with Liebenzell Mission. [1] The New Testament was first completed in 1984 and revised in 1991, while the Old Testament was completed in 1989 and revised in 2001. [2] Liebenzell Mission, a German evangelical mission society that began work in Micronesia in the early twentieth century, oversaw the translation project over several decades. [1] Chuukese is the most widely spoken language in the Federated States of Micronesia, with approximately 56,900 speakers primarily in the Caroline Islands of the western Pacific. [3]
