Shor Mark and John (CJSIBT)

Overview

The Gospels of Mark and John in Shor were published by the Institute for Bible Translation (IBT) as part of an ongoing effort to bring Scripture to the Shor people of southern Siberia. The Gospel of Mark was published in 2004, following an earlier publication of Luke 2:1-20 in 2000. IBT subsequently published John as a bilingual Shor-Russian edition with audio CD in 2011, along with collections of Bible stories (2006, 2012) and the book of Jonah (2022). ^[1] The Shor are a small Turkic people living primarily in the Kemerovo Oblast of Russia, with fewer than 3,000 speakers of the Shor language remaining.
