Chukchi Luke (CKTIBT)
Overview
This publication contains a portion of Scripture in the Chukchi language, produced by the Institute for Bible Translation (IBT) in Moscow. The vernacular title is “ԓыгъоравэтԓьэн.” The first edition of the Gospel of Luke in Chukchi was published in 2004 and released with a recording on audiocassettes. [1] A revised edition was published in 2018 as a diglot with the Russian Synodal translation in a parallel column. [1] IBT has also published additional Chukchi Scripture portions including the book of Jonah (2018), Gospel Parables (2021), and a “Bible Stories” collection of 58 narrative passages (2022). [1]

Chukchi (ISO 639-3: ckt) is a Paleo-Asiatic language spoken in Russia’s far northeast. According to 2010 census data, approximately 16,000 ethnic Chukchi exist, though only about 4,563 (29%) indicated they spoke the language.
