The New Testament in Mro-Khimi Chin

The New Testament in Mro-Khimi Chin (CMRWBT)

Overview

The New Testament in the Mro-Khimi Chin language, published in 2006 by the Bible Society of Myanmar. [1] The Mro-Khimi (also known as Mro, Awa Khami, or Mro Chin) are one of the 135 officially recognized ethnic groups of Myanmar, numbering approximately 200,000 people across northern Rakhine State and southern Chin State. [2] The first Christian conversion among the Mro-Khimi was recorded in April 1932, and today approximately 16,000 (about 7–8% of the population) identify as Christian, making them one of the less-reached Chin-related groups. [1] [2] Bible portions in Mro-Khimi were completed between 2007 and 2010, and the New Testament was published in 2006 using the Latin script with the Vakung dialect, which is the most widely understood among the Mro-Khimi’s four dialect groups.
