Northern Dagara Bible (DGIABB)
Overview
The New Testament in the Northern Dagara language, titled “A Sɛb-Sõw,” published in 2004 by the Alliance Biblique du Burkina Faso (Bible Society of Burkina Faso). [1] The translation project began in 1997 and was an interdenominational collaboration involving the Catholic Church, the Evangelical Pentecostal Assembly, the Church of the Assemblies of God, and Impact Mission of the Full Gospel, all working under the coordination of the Alliance Biblique du Burkina Faso. [1] The New Testament was dedicated on December 1, 2007, marking the first time the Dagara-speaking community had access to Scripture in their mother tongue. [1] Work subsequently continued on the Old Testament, and the complete Dagara Bible was dedicated on November 14, 2020, in Diébougou, after 23 years of translation work. [1] Both Catholic and Protestant editions were published, with the Catholic edition including the deuterocanonical books. [1]
