Overview

The Bible in Darlong is a complete Bible (Old and New Testaments) published by Bibles International in 2014. The Darlong are a small tribal people of approximately 6,000 speakers living in the Indian state of Tripura. [1] The Darlong embraced Christianity in 1919, and by 1972 the entire tribe had converted. [1] The first New Testament in Darlong was published in 1987 by Bibles for the World, led by Rev. Hrengngura Darlong. A second New Testament was published in 1995 by Bibles International, followed by a New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs from the Bible Society of India in 1996. [1] A complete Bible was also published by Global Friendship Mission in 2010 in collaboration with the Evangelical Free Church of India. [1] The Bibles International full Bible represents a significant achievement for one of India’s smallest language communities.
