Dombe New Testament (DOVDOR)
Overview
The Dombe New Testament was published in 2020 by the Door43 World Missions Community, a collaborative open-licensed Bible translation platform managed by unfoldingWord. [1] The translation was produced by a team of community translators including Dube Makeyi S., Denis, Keepers, Smart, Leviticus, Lusyomo, David, Charles, and many others. [1] It is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 4.0 license. [1] The Dombe people are the original inhabitants of the upper Zambezi Valley in the Hwange District of northwestern Zimbabwe, descendants of the Toka-Leya people found across the Zambezi River in Zambia. [2] The Dombe language is not among Zimbabwe’s 16 official languages, is not taught in schools, and has no radio or television programming, making this translation a significant resource for language preservation.
