Overview

The Desiya New Testament was published in 2020 by The Word for the World International and the Desiya Translation Samithi, Koraput, Odisha. Desiya (also known as Deshia or Koraputi Oriya) is an Eastern Indo-Aryan language spoken by approximately 227,000 people in the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Kalahandi in Odisha. [1] While related to standard Odia, Desiya is classified as a distinct language, and this New Testament provides Scripture in Desiya using the Odia script.
