Mbore New Testament (GAIPBT)
Overview
The Mbore New Testament (Rarang Aetaniacna Kam Wembang Lang) is the first Scripture translation in the Borei (Mbore) language of Papua New Guinea, published in 2016 by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea and translated by Pioneer Bible Translators. [1] The translation project began when Dave and Alice Parrish established their home among the Mbore people to learn the language and begin translation work. Dave Parrish and a team of Mbore men started translating, but the Parrish family eventually left with only short portions of Scripture completed. [2] The work was later resumed with the help of Dave Robinson, a biblical scholar sent by Pioneer Bible Translators, who brought expertise that enabled the Mbore translation team to continue. [2] Steven Piki, an Mbore man who had gained translation skill and experience working alongside the two Daves, committed to completing the translation and asked Pioneer Bible Translators for continued support. [3] The Mbore New Testament was dedicated on July 26, 2017, in a celebration among the Mbore people. [3]
