Robinson-Pierpont Greek New Testament (GRCRNP)
Overview
A critical edition of the Greek New Testament representing the Byzantine/Majority Textform, edited by Maurice A. Robinson and William G. Pierpont. This is not a translation but a scholarly reconstruction of the Greek text based on the Byzantine text-type, which constitutes the majority of surviving New Testament manuscripts. Robinson and Pierpont jointly edited and refined the text during the period 1976 to 1991, first releasing printed textual notes in 1979 and a continuous-text electronic form in 1986. [1] Their first published edition appeared in 1991, followed by a second edition in 2005 and a further revision in 2018. [1] The editors employed a method they termed “reasoned transmissionalism,” which evaluates the wider scope of manuscript transmission throughout history without the anti-Byzantine bias characteristic of other text-critical approaches. [2] The 2005 edition was released into the public domain, permitting unrestricted copying and distribution. [1]
