Gujarati: Easy to Read Version

Gujarati: Easy to Read Version (GUJERV)

Overview

The Gujarati Easy to Read Version (ERV) is a full Bible translation in Gujarati, one of the major languages of western India with approximately 56 million speakers. [1] The Easy-to-Read Version is a translation series developed by the World Bible Translation Center (WBTC), a subsidiary of Bible League International originally founded in 1973 in Arlington, Texas. [2] The ERV uses simplified vocabulary, short sentences, and a dynamic equivalence translation philosophy to make the text accessible to readers at varying literacy levels. [2] The ERV program originated as the “English Version for the Deaf” in 1978, and has since expanded into over 30 languages worldwide, with full Bibles available in 24 languages. [3] The Gujarati ERV is published by Bible League International and is available in both print and digital formats. [1]
