Ruhaya Bible

Ruhaya Bible (HAYBST)

Overview

The Ruhaya Bible, known as Ebibulia 2001, is a New Testament translation in the Haya language published in 2001 by the Bible Society of Tanzania. The Haya (or Bahaya) are a Bantu ethnic group residing in the Kagera Region of northwestern Tanzania, on the western shores of Lake Victoria, primarily in the Bukoba, Muleba, and Karagwe districts. [1] The Haya people are historically notable for their complex kingship-based political system and for independently developing carbon steel smelting techniques dating back approximately 2,000 years. [1] The Bible Society of Tanzania has been active in translating Scripture into numerous Tanzanian languages, and the Ruhaya New Testament serves the approximately 1.9 million Haya speakers in the region.
