Overview
The New Testament in Holiya was published in 2020 by The Word for the World International and the Holiya Translation Samithi in Kudwa, Gondia, Maharashtra. Holiya (also called Golari) is an endangered southern Dravidian language closely related to Kannada, spoken by a small community of approximately 500 people in Bhandara and Gondia districts of Maharashtra and Balaghat and Seoni districts of Madhya Pradesh. [1] The language is in decline as younger generations shift to Hindi and Marathi. [1]
