Iraya 1991 Edition

Iraya 1991 Edition (IRYOMF)

Overview

The Iraya New Testament was translated by Hazel Page, a Canadian OMF missionary described as a gifted linguist who became proficient in over 20 languages during her career. [1] Page lived among the Iraya people on Mindoro, where she created an Iraya-Tagalog-English dictionary and translated the New Testament into Iraya. [1] Scripture portions were available from the 1960s through 1981, and the New Testament was completed in 1991. [2] This was one of three Mangyan New Testament translations in which OMF had a major role, alongside the Buhid (1988) and Hanunoo (1995) editions. [3]
