Open Icelandic Living New Testament and Psalms

Open Icelandic Living New Testament and Psalms (ISLBIB)

Overview

The Open Icelandic Living New Testament and Psalms (Opna Lifandi Ord Nyja testamentid og Salmarnir) is an Icelandic-language paraphrase of the New Testament and the Book of Psalms, published by Biblica, Inc. The original edition dates to 1979, with a revised edition in 1995. [1] This work belongs to the Living Bible family of translations, which originated with Kenneth Taylor’s English-language paraphrase published in 1971. The Living Bible approach renders Scripture in a free, thought-for-thought paraphrase style intended to make the text accessible to a broad readership. [2] Biblica (formerly the International Bible Society) sponsored Living Bible editions in numerous languages worldwide. This Icelandic edition contains 28 books: the 27 books of the New Testament plus Psalms.
