Overview

The Kianying Balang Gospel of Mark is a translation of the Gospel of Mark into the Kyenele language of Papua New Guinea, published in 1992 by Pioneer Bible Translators in partnership with the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea. [1] The vernacular title, Mak Kianying Balang, reflects a local dialect name for the language, which is also known as Kenele, Miyak, Bulang, and Kyenyingbarang. [2] This was the first Scripture portion published in the Kyenele language. Additional Bible portions were produced through 2010. [2]

Language and People

Kyenele (ISO 639-3: kql) is spoken by approximately 1,250 people across two primary people groups, the Kenele and the Miyak. Papua New Guinea, Map 6. [Glottolog: kyen1243]
