Rote Lole Bible (LLGUBB)
Overview
Genesis and the New Testament in the Lole language of Rote Island, eastern Indonesia, published in 2004 by Unit Bahasa dan Budaya (UBB-GMIT), the Language and Culture Unit of the Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT). [1] The translation was part of a multi-language Bible translation initiative on Rote Island coordinated by UBB-GMIT in partnership with the Seed Company and Wycliffe Bible Translators. [2] The Lole New Testament was formally dedicated on June 13, 2019, at Bukit Hoabaluk, the site where Christianity entered Rote in the 18th century through Raja Lole, Ndi’i Hua. [3] Seven mother-tongue translators contributed to the fifteen-year project: Albert Zacharias, Yohanis Zacharias, Semuel Kueain, Samuel Ndun, Martinus Kuehuan, Anderias Dillak, and Adika Balukh. [3] Prof. Charles Grimes served as translation consultant and Mike Brooks as UBB-GMIT director during the project. [3]
