Huasteca Central Nahuatl Bible (NCHTBL)
Overview
The Huasteca Central Nahuatl Bible, titled “Icamanal toteco; Santa Biblia” in the vernacular, is a complete Protestant Bible (66 books) published in 2005 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] It is one of three coordinated Bible translations covering the major Nahuatl varieties of Mexico’s Huasteca region, alongside the Eastern (NHETBL) and Western (NHWTBL) Huasteca Nahuatl editions, all published in the same year. Central Huasteca Nahuatl (ISO 639-3: nch) belongs to the Eastern Nahuatl branch of the Uto-Aztecan language family and is spoken in the Huasteca region spanning parts of Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí, and Veracruz states. [2] The language is classified as threatened, with approximately 196,000 speakers. [2] The text is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license. [1]
