Huasteca Oriental Nahuatl Bible 2005 (NHETBL)
Overview
The Huasteca Oriental Nahuatl Bible, titled “Itlajtol toteco: Santa Biblia” in the vernacular, is a complete Protestant Bible (66 books) published in 2005 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] It is one of three coordinated Bible translations for the Huasteca Nahuatl varieties, alongside the Central (NCHTBL) and Western (NHWTBL) editions, all published in the same year. Eastern Huasteca Nahuatl (ISO 639-3: nhe) is the largest of the three Huasteca Nahuatl varieties and one of the most widely spoken Nahuatl languages overall, with approximately 1,730,000 speakers in Mexico. [2] The language belongs to the Eastern Nahuatl branch of the Uto-Aztecan family and is spoken primarily in the states of Hidalgo, Veracruz, San Luis Potosí, and Puebla.
