Overview
The New Testament in Kinyiramba (Lyago Nipia Mpola Nanziiza ku Antu Tulu, Kuntambo ya Kinilyamba 2009) is the first New Testament translation in the Nilamba (Iramba) language, published by the Bible Society of Tanzania in 2009. [1] The Nilamba people inhabit the Iramba District of the Singida Region in central Tanzania. [2] This translation is part of a broader effort by the Bible Society of Tanzania, which has produced 12 complete local-language Bibles and 41 New Testaments in Tanzanian languages. [1] Work toward a complete Kinyiramba Bible is reported to be in its final stages. [1]
Language and People
Nilamba (ISO 639-3: nim), also known as Iramba or Kinyiramba, is a Bantu language spoken by approximately 682,000 people in the Iramba District of the Singida Region, central Tanzania. [2] The Nilamba and Iambi people are the primary speakers. [2] [Glottolog: nila1242]
