Nusu New Testament Portions

Nusu New Testament Portions (NUFWBT)

Overview

The Nusu New Testament Portions contain selected Scripture passages in the Nusu language, a Loloish language of the Tibeto-Burman family spoken by approximately 12,600 people mainly in Fugong and Lushui counties of the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, southwestern China, with some speakers also in northern Myanmar. [1] [2] Nusu has three recognized dialects: Central Nusu (about 6,000 speakers in southern Fugong County), Southern Nusu (about 4,000 speakers in northern Lushui County), and Northern Nusu (about 2,000 speakers in Fugong County). [1] The text is written in a Latin-based script, though literacy in the Nusu language among its speakers remains limited. [1] This 2010 publication by Wycliffe Bible Translators represents one of only a small number of Scripture translations into minority languages of China’s Yunnan Province.
