Paite Chin 2004 Edition (PCKBIV)

Overview

The Paite Chin 2004 Edition is a complete Bible in the Paite language, spoken by the Paite people of Manipur and neighboring states in northeastern India. Bible translation in Paite has a substantial history: the first New Testament was published in 1951, and the first complete Bible (Laisiangthou: Thukhun Lui Leh Thukhun Thak Kigawm) was published in 1971 by the Bible Society of India, based on the translation work of Rev. Hangzo Nengzachin and other translators including T.C. Tiankham, Vungthawn, Chinlang, and Thangkhawgin. [1] Rev. Nengzachin also developed a 24-letter alphabet for the Paite language in 1945, published in the Paite Primer Sintung Bu in 1946. [2] The 2004 edition represents a later revision of the Paite Bible. A further re-edited version (Paite OV Re-edited) was published by the Bible Society of India in 2013. [3]
