Pokomo 2004 Edition

Pokomo 2004 Edition (PKBBTL)

Overview

The Pokomo 2004 Edition is the New Testament in the Lower Pokomo language, translated by Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL) in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators. BTL began working in Lower Pokomo in 1985, and the New Testament was completed in 2005. [1] Shedrack Falama served as a key translator and community representative for the project, becoming closely identified with BTL’s work among the Pokomo. [2] The Pokomo people live along the flood plain of the Tana River, Kenya’s largest river, in Tana River County. [1] The complete Pokomo Bible was dedicated on 30 September 2023 after 38 years and approximately Sh140 million of investment. [3]
