Overview

The Huamalíes-Dos de Mayo Huánuco Quechua New Testament (Tayta Diospa Wilakuynin) is a translation of the New Testament into the Quechua variety spoken in the Huamalíes and Dos de Mayo provinces of the Huánuco region in central Peru. The translation was produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators with linguistic analysis and support from SIL International (Instituto Lingüístico de Verano), which has worked on grammar materials and educational texts for this language. [1] The New Testament was published in 2008 by Bible League International.

Language and People

Huamalíes-Dos de Mayo Huánuco Quechua (ISO 639-3: qvh) is spoken by approximately 80,000 people in the Huamalíes and Dos de Mayo provinces of the Huánuco region in central Peru. [1] [2] It belongs to the Quechua I (Central) branch of the Quechuan language family. The language is classified as stable, though an estimated 80,000 speakers remain monolingual and do not speak Spanish.
