Nyaturu 2010 Edition

Nyaturu 2010 Edition (RIMBST)

Overview

The 2010 New Testament in Nyaturu (Kinyaturu), published by the Bible Society of Tanzania. [1] The Nyaturu people, also known as the Turu or Arimi, number over 1.2 million and live primarily in the Singida region of north-central Tanzania. [2] Earlier Bible portions in Nyaturu were published between 1956 and 1964, but the 2010 edition represents the first complete New Testament in the language. [2] The Turu people comprise three main subgroups: the Airwana (Wilwana), who make up roughly half the population and include the city of Singida; the Vahi (Wahi) in the south and west; and the smaller Anyiŋanyi (Wanyinganyi) in the east. [3] Nyaturu is a Bantu language with three recognized dialects corresponding to these tribal divisions. [3]
