Ranglong 2002 Edition

Ranglong 2002 Edition (RNLBIV)

Overview

The Ranglong 2002 Edition is a New Testament translation into Ranglong, a Sino-Tibetan language spoken by approximately 8,000 people in northeast India. The Ranglong are one of twelve sub-tribes of the Halam people, a Scheduled Tribe of India concentrated in the states of Tripura, Assam, and Mizoram. [1] Christianity has had a significant impact among the Ranglong: when the Gospel reached them approximately 60 years ago, the community rapidly adopted the Christian faith, and today an estimated 80 percent of the Ranglong are Christians. [2] The New Testament translation serves as a vital resource for worship and Scripture engagement in the Ranglong mother tongue, alongside the existing use of other languages in church settings. The Dharmanagar Langkei Baptist Association has been involved in Ranglong Scripture translation efforts. [3]
