Overview

The Sakachep New Testament (titled “Pathien Lekhabu Inthieng Chongtung Thar”) was published in 2017 by The Word for the World International and NECTAR (North East Centre for Training and Research), under the direction of Rev. S. Nengzakhup. [1][3] Bible portions in Sakachep had been available since 2002, and this was the first complete New Testament. [1] Sakachep (also known as Khelma) is a Kuki-Chin language spoken by approximately 25,000 people across the northeastern Indian states of Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland, concentrated in areas such as Dima Hasao, Barak Valley, and Karbi Anglong. [2]
