Caning Bible Translation (SHJCBT)

Overview

The Caning Bible Translation contains Scripture portions in the Shatt language, published in 2018 by Pioneer Bible Translators. The Shatt people refer to themselves as “Caning” (an endonym), while “Shatt” is an Arabic exonym meaning “dispersed.” [1] The Shatt/Caning people live in the Shatt Hills of the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan, and the language belongs to the Eastern Daju family of Nilo-Saharan languages. [1]
