Huehuetla Tepehua New Testament (TEEWBT)
Overview
New Testament in Tepehua, Huehuetla (MX:tee:Tepehua, Huehuetla). Published in 1976 by Wycliffe Bible Translators under the title “Ixchivinti Dios” (meaning “Word of God” in Huehuetla Tepehua), this translation was produced by Liga Biblica Internacional. [1] Huehuetla Tepehua is a Totonacan language spoken in the municipality of Huehuetla in northeastern Hidalgo state and in Mecalapa in Puebla state, central Mexico. [2] The Tepehua are a farming people closely related linguistically and culturally to the neighboring Totonac, inhabiting mountainous regions of eastern Hidalgo and northern Veracruz. [3] Tepehua comprises three distinct languages — Pisaflores, Huehuetla, and Tlachichilco — each with its own speech community. [2] This New Testament is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives license. [1]
