Overview

Tanou Moonsoi Timugon is the Bible in Timugon Murut, a language spoken by the Murut people of the Tenom Valley in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. [1] The New Testament portion, titled Nabantuan Bagu, was published in 1998 by the Bible Society of Malaysia as the first Scripture publication in Timugon Murut. [2] The full Bible including deuterocanonical books followed later. The Timugon Murut are an indigenous people of interior Borneo, historically inhabiting the lowland plains of the Tenom district along the Pegalan and Padas rivers. [1] They are part of the broader Murut ethnic group, the third-largest indigenous group in Sabah, and the Timugon dialect serves as a lingua franca among lowland Murut subgroups. [1]
