Overview

Sop: Profet Yonab Budi / Dora Nama Lukde Feiaga (Portions). This publication contains Scripture portions in the Sop language (also known as Sob or Sob Dora), consisting of the books of Jonah and Luke. [1] The Book of Jonah (“Profet Yonab Budi”) was translated in 2007 and the Gospel of Luke (“Dora Nama Lukde Feiaga”) was completed in 2015, both by Pioneer Bible Translators. [1] Sop is a Rai Coast language of the Trans-New Guinea language family, spoken in the Madang Province of Papua New Guinea by approximately 2,250-2,500 people. [2][3] Pioneer Bible Translators first sent missionary families to Papua New Guinea in 1977 and currently maintains 17 active translation programs in the Madang and East Sepik Provinces, serving language communities that had no previous access to Scripture. [4]
