Iamalele New Testament (YMLTBL)

Overview

The Iamalele New Testament was translated by SIL Papua New Guinea and Wycliffe Bible Translators, with initial portions copyrighted in 1984 and a completed edition in 1988. [1] Linguistic groundwork for the translation was laid by Janet Ezard of SIL, who produced a phonemic analysis of the Iamalele language in 1970. [2] Iamalele is an Austronesian language spoken by approximately 2,800 people on the south coast of Fergusson Island in Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea. The language has several dialects including Central Yamalele, Didigavu, Gwabegwabe, and Southern Yamalele. The New Testament was distributed by the World Home Bible League (Liga Biblica Mundial del Hogar).
