Lachixío Zapotec New Testament

Lachixío Zapotec New Testament (ZPLTBL)

Overview

The Lachixío Zapotec New Testament was completed in 2010 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. The translation was the work of David and Jan Persons, SIL linguists who worked extensively with the Zapotec communities of Santa María Lachixío and San Vicente Lachixío in the Sola de Vega District of western Oaxaca. [1] Their linguistic documentation of the language spans decades, beginning with anthropological observations in 1976, followed by literacy materials (1986), a basic vocabulary (2002), and a full grammar co-authored with Cheryl A. Black (2009). [1] Lachixío Zapotec is part of the western branch of the Zapotec language family, alongside the Zaniza and Texmelucan varieties.
